Bhagat Bhikhan Ji

Bhagat Bhikhan Ji

Bhagat Bhikhan (1480-1573), a saint of the medieval period, has two of his hymns incorporated in Guru Granth Sahib. There are in fact two saints of that time sharing the same name— Bhikhan sadhu and Bhikhan the Sufi saint. It is the compositions of Bhikhan the sufi saint, which have been incorporated in Guru Granth Sahib.

He was born at Kakori near Lucknow in present day Uttar Pardesh state. Bhagat Bhikhan was a devotee in the tradition of Ravdăs and Dhannă. His hymns in Guru Granth Săhib reflect his dedication to the Name of Hari (God) which he describes as "cure for all ills of the world."
