Sikhs-Drug Addicts?

The menace of Drug Addiction has embraced all societies. However it was presumed that Sikhs would not fall in this trap, more so because Guru Gobind Singh forbade any addictive substance, specifically tobacco. Unfortunately Sikhs are seen to have become synonymous with alcohol and associated drunkenness and rowdiness. How unfortunate it is to see a Sikh lying drunk besides a drain with his turban a few feet away. The Sikhs to whom the world looked up to, are now no better that anyone else. The Sikhs whom everyone could trust implicitly and totally to defend them cannot even stand upright!! Surely our Gurus did not create the Khalsa to see it waste away in addiction through drugs or alcohol!! How the mighty have fallen! |
