Hoshairpur: Clip-Clop, clip clop, clip-clop. You guessed it right.
It's the all familiar sound of trotting horses with Nihangs
(traditional Sikh warriors) astride on them as the festival of Holla
Mohalla approaches near.

|
Holla Mohalla (March 26) is celebrated at Sri Anandpur Sahib a day
after Holi and thousands of devotees and Nihangs from all over the
state throng at Anandpur Sahib to mark this occasion symbolising
brotherhood. With less than a week to go for Holla Mohalla, the
Nihangs also called as 'Guru Ki Fauj' are making a beeline for the
Historic city where Khalsa was formed.

The Nihangs who in their blue attire can be seen moving in groups ,
riding bareback their majestic horses would participate in
tent-pegging, trick riding and other forms of martial arts at Anandpur
Sahib.

"We are coming from Jhar Sahib near Khemkaran in Amritsar district,
said a Nihang. "
|
| |
|
This group of Nihangs owes allegiance to Baba Veer Singh, he said. "We
are taking along 30 horses. Mostly the horses are donations made at
the dera by couples who could not bear a child but were blessed with
one, after they paid obeisance at Jaura Sahib Gurdawara. "

|
The group started four days ago from Amritsar and after taking the
Harike -Goindwal-Kapurthala route reached Hoshiarpur on Sunday. TNN
caught up with them at village Chabewal on the Hoshiarpur-Chandigarh
road.

We will take a detour from Garhshankar towards Anandpur Sahib and
should reach our destination in a couple of days. Having said this
they started their forward march.
For the next few days on Punjab roads the signboard truly is-Singh is
King
