Shri Harimander Sahib is the central religious place of the Sikh community. From past 4 decades this sacred place has been the main source of devotion, dedication, meditation and sacrifice for the Sikhs. On Friday 25th March 2004 Kar Sewa started at Harimander Sahib with respect. The word Kar Sewa mean’s the construction or cleaning of the historical religious place. In this connection Kar Sewa of Sarovar or the holy tank mean’s cleaning of Sarovar and the removal of the assembled silt from its bed. Kar Sewa reflects the serving nature of the community and it strengthens the unity among people. It create an awareness among the people regarding the religion. Time from the starting period till now many times Kar Sewa has been performed at Harimander Sahib.
